Early Life –

Elon Musk was born on June 28, 1971, in Pretoria, Transvaal, South Africa, to Erol Musk, a South African electrical engineer, pilot, and sailor, and May Musk (a model and dietitian from Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada).

Elon Musk has a younger brother, Kimball, and a younger sister, Tosca. His grandfather, Dr. Joshua Haldman was a Canadian citizen of American descent. Whose wife was British and also of Pennsylvania Dutch descent. After his parents divorced in 1980, Elon Musk lived mainly with his father in the suburbs of Pretoria. He also has a half-sister and a half-brother.

Elon Musk’s father owned an emerald mine in Zambia, so Elon grew up in a “grand lifestyle.” In his childhood, Elon Musk was an avid reader. At the age of 10, he developed a passion for computing using the Commodore VIC-20. He taught himself computer programming, and by the age of 12, he was selling code and PC-based video games to PC and Office Technology Magazine at Blastar.

Academic stay –

Before graduating from Pretoria Boys High School, he attended Watercliffe House Preparatory School and Bryanston High School. His father insisted on completing his education at a college in Pretoria, but Elon Musk decided to move to the United States.

It would be easier to enter the United States from Canada, so they applied for a Canadian passport through a Canadian-born mother. While waiting for a Canadian passport, Elon Musk studied for five months at the University of Pretoria. This prevented them from pursuing military service in the South.

Upon arriving in Canada, he stayed in a youth hostel. He then traveled west to live with another cousin in Saskatchewan. There he worked for a year. In 1990, he enrolled at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, and two years later at the University of Pennsylvania. In 1997, he earned a degree in science. (BS) degree in Economics and Bachelor of Physics (BA) from Wharton School.

In 1995, Elon Musk tried to get a job at Netscape, but he says he never received a response to a job inquiry. And then decided to ride the wave of the internet instead of a job and started an internet startup.

Career –

Zip2

In 1995, Elon Musk’s brother Kimball and his friend Greg Kaurie founded the web software company Zip2 with money raised from a small group of investors.

He started working in a small rented office in Palo Alto. The company created maps, directions, and yellow pages. Developed the Internet city guide for the newspaper publishing industry and created their market.

Before the company was successful, Musk says, they didn’t even have a home to live in. They could not afford an apartment but instead used the simple office space to sleep. In addition, he says he only had one computer. According to Elon Musk, “We worked on the website during the day and coded at night, seven days a week.”

When the Musk brothers reached an agreement with the New York Times and the Chicago Tribune and urged the board of directors to plan a merger with City Search, their efforts were successful. However, Musk’s attempt to become CEO was rejected by the board. Compaq acquired the Zip2 in February 1999 for 307 million. Musk received 22 million as its 7 percent stake in the sale.

X.com and PayPal

Musk co-founded X.com in March 1999 with financial 10 million from the sale of Zip2, an online financial services, and e-mail payment company. A year later, the company merged into Confinity, a money transfer service called PayPal.

Elon Musk was fired as chief executive in October 2000 after disagreeing with other company executives over PayPal’s desire to transfer Unix-based infrastructure to Microsoft.

In October 2002, PayPal was bought by eBay for $ 1.5 billion in stock, from which Elon Musk received 165 million. Prior to the sale, Elon, the company’s largest shareholder, owned 11.7% of PayPal.

In 2017 the domain name X.com was repurchased from PayPal for an undisclosed amount. He said the reason was that he was emotionally attached to X.com.

SpaceX

In 2001, Elon Musk conceived the idea of a Mars oasis. In which a small greenhouse on Mars will take food-grain crops and rekindle people’s interest in space exploration. In October 2001, Musk traveled with a group to Moscow to purchase refurbished Napier Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBMs) that could send greenhouse payloads into space.

He visited NPO Lavochkin and Kosmotras. Musk was seen as a novice and had to endure a lot of humiliation. One of the main Russian designers even spat on Chukka Musk. The group returned to the United States empty-handed.

He had another meeting with Kosmotra and offered him a rocket for 8 million, which Musk refused. Instead, Elon Musk decided to start a company that could make cheap rockets. With an investment of 100 million, Musk founded SpaceX Technology Corporation, SpaceX, in May 2002.

Tesla

Tesla, Inc. (Originally Tesla Motors) was founded in July 2003 by Martin Eberhardt and Mark Tarping, who financed the company until the Series A round. Both men played an active role in the company’s early development before Musk’s involvement.

Elon Musk led the Series A round of investment rounds in February 2004, serving as chairman of Tesla’s board of directors. According to Musk, J. B. All three, including Strobel, were inspired by the previous AC propulsion Tezero electric roadster prototype. Musk took an active role in the company and oversaw the design of roadster products at a detailed level, but he was not much involved in the day-to-day business.

In 2008, Elon Musk took the lead as CEO and Production Architect. This degree is still in use today. Until 2019, Elon Musk will be the longest-serving executive CEO of any automotive manufacturer worldwide.

Tesla Motors manufactured the Tesla Roadster electric sports car in 2008 and sold about 2,500 vehicles in 31 countries, making it the first all-electric car to use lithium-ion battery cells, respectively. Tesla began delivering its four-door Model S sedan in June 2012.

Tesla sold an electric powertrain system in addition to its own car. Daimler (for smart EV, Mercedes B-Class electric drive and Mercedes A-Class) and Toyota (for RAV 4 AV). As a long-term investor in Tesla, Elon Musk was able to bring in both Daimler and Toyota.

As of January 29, 2016, Musk owned 28.9 million Tesla shares, about 22% of the company. As of December 31, 2019, Musk owns 38,658,670 shares, or 20.8% of all Tesla shares.

SolarCity

Elon provided the initial concept and financial capital for SolarCity, and his cousins Lyndon and Peter Reeve came together in 2006 to form SolarCity. As of 2013, SolarCity was the second largest solar power company in the United States.

In 2012, Musk announced that SolarCity and Tesla would collaborate to use electric whale batteries to ease the impact of rooftop solar on the power grid, a program that went live in 2013. Tesla bought SolarCity in 2016 for more than 2 billion and made changes to its solar segment.

Neuralink

In 2016, Musk co-founded Neuralink, a neurotechnology start-up company to share the human brain with artificial intelligence. With the ultimate goal of merging manpower into software and helping to advance artificial intelligence, the company focuses on creating devices that can be implanted in the human brain.

These enhancements can improve memory or make more direct interfacing with a computer device. That’s what Musk says.

The Boring Company

On December 17, 2016, while stuck in traffic, Musk tweeted, “I’m going to build a tunneling machine … and just dig.” He then founded The Boring Company (TBC). On January 21, 2017, Musk tweeted, “Exciting progress on the tunnel front”. Plan to start excavation in a month or so.

In February 2017, the company began digging a “test trench” 30 feet (9.1 meters) wide, 50 feet (15 meters) long, and 15 feet (4.6 meters) deep in the premises of SpaceX’s offices in Los Angeles, without permission for construction. A tunnel under the Las Vegas Convention Center was completed in early 2020. Local authorities later approved the expansion of the tunneling system.

Hyperloop

On August 12, 2013, Elon Musk unveiled the concept of a high-speed transport system, including a low-pressure tube. In which linear induction motors and air compressors operate pressure capsules on air cushions.

In June 2015, Musk announced a design competition for students and others to create a Hyperloop pod to operate on a mile-long track at the SpaceX-sponsored Hyperloop Pod competition. The track was used in January 2017. And Musk also started making tunnels.

In July 2017, Musk claimed that he had received “verbal approval” from the government to build a hyperloop from New York City to Washington DC.

OpenAI

In December 2015, Elon Musk announced the creation of the artificial intelligence (AI) research company OpenAI on a no-profit-no-loss formula. The company aims to develop artificial intelligence in a way that is safe and beneficial to humanity.

Musk intends to make AI available to all in the future. So that automatic vehicles can be used in human service. Elon Musk says we need safe artificial intelligence for the benefit of humanity and for development.

So .. Good luck for the future to the real Iron-Man who took the heights of ideas and put those ideas into practice.
